Category: The Art of Barbara Agreste

This painting forms part of the artist’s seminal Blue Paintings series — a body of work that has come to define a quietly radical approach to contemporary portraiture. At once formally rigorous and emotionally unguarded, the series probes the psychic dissonance of living in an era where the boundaries between the self and society are increasingly porous,

The chessboard is a playground. Visually a floor with no patterns would convey the feeling of inconsistency: it could become a slippery floor, one with no reference points, no distinction between near and far, and maybe no clear divide between the sky and the earth.

This evening for the exhibition organized by Agnes Casolani “Jamais Vu”, at the Rose est la vie Rose Garden, in Thaulero 12 Rd, Barbara Agreste will present a selection of her new paintings from her “Spine Flowers” series.
