"Oil

She sits upon the die, listening to fate’s silent language.

Between chance and devotion, she becomes the guardian of unspoken truths.

The Seventh Face

In The Seventh Face, from Barbara Agreste’s visionary series The Oracle’s Room, a solitary figure rests lightly atop a radiant pink die, her gaze drifting toward the quiet embrace of the setting sun. Painted with a palette both restrained and luminous, the scene reads as an invocation — a silent devotion offered to Sol Invictus, the unconquered sun.

Yet this painting extends beyond myth. It exists simultaneously as symbol and presence, minimal yet profound. Here, fate appears not as an immutable decree, but as a living thread weaving softly through time. The figure, in her seated stillness, holds that thread with grace — becoming a quiet axis of continuity amid fragmentation, a keeper of silent knowledge.

As with all works in The Oracle’s Room, Agreste fuses mysticism and femininity with classical balance. The pink die beneath the figure suggests the realm of chance and the mysteries of fortune, yet the entire composition speaks of inner equilibrium, clarity, and reverence. It is a painting that holds its breath — not in fear, but in awe.

Ideal for collectors and curators interested in symbolic figuration, mythic femininity, and introspective contemporary painting, The Seventh Face offers not noise, but reflection — and thus, it endures.
