Leftovers, Ropes.

Leftovers, Ropes.
One minute trailer.

This is the last video I made, after this I have been unable to produce more videos and films, for a long time. This film is about a red sea, the water in this film is of a deep intense red, and it represents a great catastrophe which has taken place, and is still taking place at sea, in the Mediterranean. When I shot this film, I wasn’t aware of what was about to happen in the future: but as usual, when I pick up my tools to make some art, often the final result tells me of something that, good or bad, will take place, and this warning or intuition wasn’t at fault.

Art scares me when I find this images telling me the truth in their own enigmatic way, sending a hint, a fragmented clue about a possible future event: it reveals how powerful art is, not to be taken lightly, not to be left unheeded.

Anyway in this piece, we find some shattered pieces of paper, possibly letters, floating on the waves near the shores of Italy. I can’t certainly keep telling what really happened, because it is a horrible occurring, and my mind can’t imagine further: I am not the one who can tell others of such experiences.

It is only sufficient for me to display this artwork, and it will uncover its own story:  a story of injustice, and of people running away from home, in a world no longer there for humanity where at work is a silent, obscure force of destruction, wiping where it can, where the conditions make entire populations vulnerable to mean and ungodly actions of dislocation and neglect.

Other than the water in my video there is a girl picking up a rope, or sometimes untangling a bunch of ropes, trying to find a clue to all the leftovers that resurface now and then, to discover the truth, which at the time of shooting was unknown. The act of holding this rope to the viewer could be an attempt to save someone from the sea, bring people ashore.

Sometimes the artist has to stop producing, it becomes unknown and difficult to keep making art, and to be able to recover a meaning to what they make, they need some peace, and a clear picture of the events.
